Presence beats specification
A full-size pair of binoculars is superb on a tripod at dawn and irrelevant in a jacket pocket at noon. The measure of a tool is not its specification sheet — it is the number of times it was present at the moment something happened.

Designing from the pocket outward
We started with the constraint that the instrument had to disappear until it was needed. The prism layout, hinge geometry, and objective size all followed from that.
