Longevity is not a material property. It is a set of decisions about fasteners, adhesives, and whether a technician can open the object without destroying it.
Screws where glue would be faster
We chose screws where adhesive would have been quicker, and standard seals where a bespoke gasket would have looked cleaner. Both decisions cost money and neither is visible in a photograph.
The 2036 test
The test we apply is simple: in 2036, can this be repaired by someone we have never met, using parts we still know how to make?
